At IBC 2024, Rohde & Schwarz will present its latest technologies in television and radio transmission, demonstrating how innovative designs deliver enhanced efficiency for transmitters and allow broadcast network operators to explore new business possibilities and prioritize sustainability.
The R&S TH1 liquid-cooled high-power transmitter stands out as a solution for a dynamic future. It offers adaptability to changing demands and operational models. The improved amplifier design significantly enhances energy efficiency, achieving a 15% reduction in power consumption compared to existing designs. The liquid cooling system, dispersing over 90% of generated heat to the atmosphere, further minimizes energy requirements and the total cost of ownership.
The R&S TH1 is also designed for terrestrial transmission via 5G Broadcast to mobile devices, expanding business opportunities by addressing emerging use cases such as live and venue broadcasting, data delivery to the Internet of Things (IoT) and the automotive industry, and more.
Rohde & Schwarz has consistently been a pioneer in DAB+ since the early 1990s, with thousands of its transmitters currently on air serving hundreds of millions of people across Europe. The THV9evo, TMV9evo, and TLV9 DAB+ transmitters deliver exceptional signal quality and achieve a remarkable 50% transmitter efficiency, leading to reduced operational costs. At IBC 2024, Rohde & Schwarz will introduce a DAB+ efficiency calculator, an interactive savings tool. Users can input their data, and the efficiency tool will simulate real-time calculations.

Rohde & Schwarz will also unveil advanced solutions for satellite and ground station operators, such as the compact R&S PKU100 Satellite Uplink Amplifier for Ku band and the R&S GSACSM Realtime Satellite Monitoring solution.
The R&S PKU100 solid-state high-power satellite uplink amplifiers offer exceptional spectrum purity and outstanding power efficiency, resulting in up to 50% energy savings for 400W and 750W output power. The R&S GSACSM empowers satellite operators to easily implement various remote monitoring applications, such as interference identification and SatCom transponder analysis in real-time through a range of sensors. It simplifies satellite monitoring by automating the analysis of multiple SatCom links simultaneously.
