RTL Deutschland and Warner Bros. Discovery have broadened their existing collaboration. This enhanced agreement grants RTL access to a comprehensive package encompassing recent cinematic blockbusters, popular US series, and an extensive library of films and shows.
The deal benefits both RTL's linear channels and its streaming platform, RTL+. Andreas Fischer, Chief Operating Officer of RTL Deutschland, stated, “The new volume deal fully supports our Boost and Protect strategy. The wide range of hit productions from Warner Bros. Discovery is a fantastic addition to our own strong brands. This allows us to significantly increase the offering and frequency of film and series highlights for our audience – both on our free-to-air channels and on RTL+.”
Matthias Heinze, SVP Commercial & Managing Director at Warner Bros. Discovery, emphasized the importance of partnerships, saying, “Partnerships are the key to sustainable success, especially in a constantly changing media environment. We are very pleased to continue our long-standing collaboration with RTL Deutschland. Together, we are creating the best conditions to delight our audiences with the outstanding and award-winning content from the Warner Bros. Discovery universe.”
The agreement includes exclusive free-to-air and co-exclusive streaming rights for titles such as Mickey 17, Ein Minecraft Film, James Gunn’s Superman, and Wunderschöner. RTL also secures access to Warner Bros.’ extensive library, featuring franchises like Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, The Matrix, and a significant selection of DC Universe films.
The deal further encompasses new US series and established library titles, adding to already available content on RTL+, such as Der Junge muss an die frische Luft, Aquaman, The Big Bang Theory, Young Sheldon, and Gilmore Girls.
