Viaplay Group announced its Q3 results, stating that their turnaround remains on track, with Group net sales of SEK 4,018 million. The company also confirmed the planned completion of its Allente acquisition in the fourth quarter, pending Swedish competition clearance.
Streaming subscription sales saw a 1% year-on-year increase, driven by direct-to-consumer growth and higher ARPU, which offset weaker business-to-business revenues. Advertising revenue increased by 2%, while linear subscription sales decreased by 1%, reflecting the ongoing shift from traditional broadcast to digital platforms.
The company highlighted strong sports engagement, driven by popular events such as the Premier League and Formula 1, along with UEFA club competitions and the Ryder Cup. In Norway, Viaplay emphasized its partnership with TV 2, which will make over 3,000 football matches accessible to a broader audience.
Local storytelling continues to resonate with audiences across the Nordic markets. Shows like "Paradise Hotel Sverige" performed well, along with "Robinson Ekspeditionen" and "Svenska Fall."
Looking ahead to Q4, Viaplay's slate includes the UEFA Champions League, the ongoing Premier League and F1 seasons, and the FIS World Cup winter schedule.
Regarding Allente, Viaplay reiterated that regulatory filings are progressing, with approvals already secured in Norway and Denmark. Sweden’s FDI notification was “left without action,” but Swedish competition clearance is still pending. Telenor Group's agreement to sell its 50% stake in Allente to Viaplay for SEK 1.1 billion (€94.6 million) remains on track, with the company targeting Q4 for closing.
