RTL Deutschland has expanded its reach by launching its RTL+ streaming service as an independent add-on channel on Amazon Prime Video. This allows Amazon customers in Germany and Austria to directly access RTL+ via Prime Video, without needing a separate app, Prime membership, or enduring advertising breaks.
For €12.99 per month, subscribers can access RTL+ through Prime Video, unlocking the service's comprehensive video catalogue. This includes linear TV channels like RTL, VOX, and ntv, alongside a diverse range of sports, fiction, reality shows, and entertainment content.
"Strong partnerships are more important than ever," stated Stephan Schmitter, CEO of RTL Deutschland. "We are delighted to extend our collaboration with Amazon through RTL+. As Germany’s leading streaming service, our goal is to be as broadly available as possible.”
Henning Nieslony, Chief Streaming Officer at RTL Deutschland, added that this integration "opens up new target groups and increases the visibility of our strong content."
Dr Christoph Schneider, Managing Director of Prime Video Germany, noted the benefits for Amazon users: "We’re pleased to add RTL+ to our channel line-up. The combination of exclusive sports, German originals and international premium content makes RTL+ a valuable addition to our offering.”
This launch builds on the existing collaboration between RTL Deutschland and Amazon, which already includes RTL’s pay-TV channels – RTL Crime, RTL Living and GEO Television – on Prime Video Channels. Additionally, the two companies are co-producing a reboot of the 1990s show Gladiators – Die Show der Giganten, with filming planned for spring 2026.
