Slovak Telekom has discontinued the transmission of Czech Television's joint children's and culture channel, ČT:D/ČT art, from its Magio TV, Magio Sat, and Digi TV offerings. The company has not publicly stated the rationale behind this alteration.
Estimates from local media outlets suggest that approximately 676,000 subscribers are affected across the three platforms. It's important to note that this removal is currently specific to Slovak Telekom's services; other operators within Slovakia are still providing the dual channel at this time.
Technically, Slovak Telekom continues to uplink ČT:D/ČT art via the Thor satellite at 0.8°W. However, access is now restricted to clients of Czech satellite providers such as Telly, freeSAT, and Magenta TV Sat. Subscribers to Slovak Magio Sat and Digi TV are no longer able to access the broadcast.
This decision aligns with a trend of reduced Czech channel distribution within Slovakia in recent years, marked by the curtailment or complete withdrawal of various Czech services by numerous providers. The removal of the channel from Slovak Telekom's platforms highlights the changing landscape of television broadcasting in the region.
