Sportdigital, the German sports channel, has extended its broadcasting rights for Dutch top-flight football for another three years. This deal ensures continued coverage of the Eredivisie, the KNVB Cup, and the Dutch Super Cup until the end of the 2027/28 season.
The Hamburg-based broadcaster has been showing the Eredivisie since 2010, making it one of the longest-running and most popular features on its schedule. The league, known for its exciting, high-scoring matches, is home to iconic clubs like PSV Eindhoven, Ajax Amsterdam, and Feyenoord Rotterdam. Matches like "De Klassieker" between Ajax and Feyenoord consistently draw large audiences.
Last season's dramatic finish saw PSV Eindhoven overcome a nine-point deficit to Ajax in the final five games to win the title. PSV, now coached by Peter Bosz, has strengthened its squad with the signing of Alassane Pléa from Borussia Mönchengladbach. Other key players to watch this season include Ajax's Steven Berghuis and Ko Itakura, and Feyenoord's top scorer, Sem Steijn.
“The Eredivisie belongs to the DNA of Sportdigital. For 15 years now we have achieved very good viewing figures with the Dutch league, the cup and the Super Cup, and have been able to inspire many fans. We look forward to another three years with this attractive evergreen of our football programming,” said Bendix Eisermann, Managing Director of sportdigital.
The new season is already underway, with the third round of fixtures taking place this weekend. Sportdigital will be broadcasting matches including PSV Eindhoven against FC Groningen and Ajax Amsterdam against Heracles Almelo.
