With the FIFA World Cup 2026 just a year away, Telemundo, the Spanish-language broadcast partner, has unveiled ambitious plans for comprehensive coverage. Their strategy includes broadcasting all 104 matches live – 92 on Telemundo and 12 on Universo – a record for a U.S. network. Every match will also stream live on Peacock and the Telemundo app.

Telemundo’s coverage will boast live reporting from all host venues and studios in Mexico City, Miami, and New York. The network launched the "El Mundial Es Nuestro" campaign to generate excitement, using NBCUniversal platforms including Telemundo, NBC, and Peacock. This will incorporate editorial content, digital initiatives, and fan events.

Further solidifying their commitment, Telemundo secured the Spanish-language rights to the Concacaf World Cup qualifiers. This adds to their existing coverage of Argentina and Brazil qualifiers, and Team USA matches. The final Concacaf rounds coverage will start in the fall of 2025. To commemorate the occasion and mark the one-year countdown, June 11th will now be annually celebrated as El Día Nacional del Fútbol.

The Telemundo Station Group's programming lineup includes the documentary “Tras La Huella Del Fútbol,” airing across their stations and digital platforms. Additional shows such as “Camino Al Trofeo” and “Las Mujeres Detrás del Fútbol” will offer ongoing tournament coverage and highlight the significant contributions of women in soccer. A new 24/7 FAST channel, Telemundo Deportes Ahora, launching in August 2025, will add over 50 hours of weekly live sports, with a primary focus on soccer.

NBCUniversal also highlighted a notable increase in fan engagement compared to the previous World Cup. Their data shows a remarkable 66% of Spanish-language viewers expressed strong enthusiasm, and 79% reported a stronger connection with brands advertising during the event.
