Italy's tivùsat platform has unveiled a new interactive electronic programme guide (EPG), Tivù la Guida. This innovative service, delivered via the HbbTV standard, is available at no cost to viewers using satellite and DTT platforms.
Viewers can access Tivù la Guida by tuning their internet-connected, next-generation smart TV (lativù-certified sets are supported) to channel 500. An on-screen prompt then launches the interactive guide, providing a user-friendly browsing experience for TV schedules. Navigation is streamlined by time slot (now, next, later) and covers the entire broadcast week for participating channels.
The guide encompasses a wide range of channels, including generalist, thematic, local, national, and specialized services, reflecting the diversity of Italy’s free-to-air television offerings. Each programme listing includes a comprehensive information sheet, potentially featuring: plot synopsis, cast, genre, running time, target audience indicators, family/age viewing notes, and links to related content. The guide’s thematic organization enhances discoverability and caters to diverse viewer preferences.
While channel 500 serves as the primary access point, Tivù la Guida is also accessible online at tivu.tv and through free mobile applications. The app is available for iPhones and iPads via the Apple App Store and for Android devices on the Google Play Store, allowing users to check schedules on the go.
