TV Puls, Poland’s third-largest commercial broadcaster, has teamed up with DTT operator Emitel to significantly upgrade its interactive television offerings. The enhancement focuses on the existing HbbTV-based PlayPuls service, introducing a new feature called ‘Puls na żądanie’ (‘Puls on Demand’). This upgrade provides viewers with greater control over their viewing experience.

Key features include the ability to pause and rewind live broadcasts (timeshift), restart programmes from the beginning (startover), and access past content on demand (catch-up). Emitel’s advanced content distribution network (CDN) ensures high-quality streaming and seamless access for viewers. PlayPuls offers a diverse library of films, series, cartoons, and other entertainment, with content available for up to seven days after its initial broadcast.

Emitel’s CDN infrastructure is vital for smooth transmission and quick access to content. Security measures, such as geo-blocking and single-use links, guarantee controlled distribution. Dariusz Dabski, President of TV Puls, stated: “We are maximising the potential of digital technologies to offer our viewers even greater access to Puls’ diverse programming. HbbTV PlayPuls and its new features are just the beginning – we will soon be announcing additional projects.”

Maciej Staszak, Vice President of Emitel, added: “The way we consume television is evolving. By implementing these solutions for TV Puls, we are providing viewers with greater flexibility and convenience. The ability to pause, rewind, and watch content at any time is the future of television, and we are proud to be part of this transformation.”

Mariusz Kolodziejski, Technical Director at TV Puls, highlighted the user-friendly design: “Together with Emitel, we have launched a service designed to be intuitive and accessible. We are pleased with the results and are actively working on expanding our content offerings, with more exciting features in development.” This improved service is accessible to viewers using Poland’s DTT service, a popular and free method of accessing a wide array of television channels.
