In a strategic move, Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) plans to relaunch TLC as a free-to-air entertainment channel in the UK and Ireland, starting January 2026. The revamped channel will combine a stronger lineup of UK-produced original content with popular US sitcoms during prime time.
Key programming will include well-known shows like "The Big Bang Theory," "Young Sheldon," the new spin-off "Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage," and "Mike & Molly." WBD describes this selection as its "biggest scripted order for its UK FTA portfolio to date."
Beyond scripted content, the 2026 TLC schedule will feature a revamped version of "Mock the Week," a satirical panel show produced by Angst, and "Zero Stars," hosted by Roisin Conaty and Sara Pascoe, which follows the pair as they visit the world's worst-reviewed locations. Popular TLC staples such as "Dr Pimple Popper," "My 600lb Life," and the "90 Day Fiancé" franchise (including the UK version) will also remain part of the programming.
This relaunch is part of a broader effort to streamline WBD's free-to-air offerings in the UK. Starting in January, Really will incorporate a curated selection of HGTV shows. The linear HGTV channel will cease broadcasting in the UK, but its content will continue to be available on the streaming service discovery+. In 2026, WBD’s FTA portfolio will consist of six channels: Quest, Quest Red, Food Network, DMAX, Really, and the refreshed TLC.
The timing of this change coincides with WBD's new sales agreement, which transfers its UK & Ireland advertising inventory to Sky Media beginning in January 2026. This move to free-to-air broadens WBD's reach in general entertainment, aligning with its broader 2026 strategy, including the UK launch of Max and ongoing simplification of its portfolio. Earlier this year, Eurosport’s UK brands were integrated into TNT Sports.
WBD has stated that further details regarding TLC’s specific channel position and launch night schedule will be released closer to January.
