By the close of 2025, Ziggo anticipates that nearly 7 million households across the Netherlands will have access to 2 Gbit/s broadband. This move positions the operator as the nation's leading 2 Gbit/s provider and marks the first large-scale launch of this speed in a single step. Full nationwide coverage is expected by 2026, bringing 2 Gbit/s capabilities to numerous regional areas for the first time.

VodafoneZiggo also has plans in motion for even faster tiers, aiming for 4 Gbit/s and 8 Gbit/s options in 2026. Initially, the new speed will be available to existing customers, with a rollout to retail, customer care, and online channels scheduled in the coming weeks. Residential access is offered through the ‘Wifi Extra Large’ package (2 Gbit/s), while business users can opt for ‘Business Internet Xtra XL’ at 2.2 Gbit/s download speeds.

The operator emphasizes that its hybrid fibre-coax network allows for quick upgrades without significant infrastructure work. A DOCSIS 4.0 upgrade is planned to further increase capacity towards 10 Gbit/s. Furthermore, a partnership with DELTA Fiber is extending Ziggo’s internet and TV services into areas beyond VodafoneZiggo’s direct reach. The launch is a key part of VodafoneZiggo’s revamped strategy, which also included simplifying its broadband offerings and adjusting pricing earlier in the year.

According to Ziggo, "Nationwide coverage is slated for 2026, extending 2 Gbit/s into many regional areas for the first time".

Competition in the Dutch market is intensifying, particularly from KPN. VodafoneZiggo overtook VodafoneZiggo group in terms of Dutch fixed broadband subscribers at the end of 2023. Together, KPN and VodafoneZiggo hold approximately 35–40% of the market. As the company stated, "VodafoneZiggo has been facing renewed competition from KPN."
