iWedia, a provider of software solutions for digital TV, has successfully completed a project for Hrvatski Telekom (HT), the leading Croatian telecom and part of Deutsche Telekom group. The project involved extending the lifecycle of HT's hundreds of thousands of legacy IPTV STB devices by upgrading to new DRM protected ABR streaming technologies. The upgrade was achieved through the seamless integration of iWedia’s products (media player and browser) with the new TV platform.

iWedia played a crucial role in the project execution, managing the implementation of the low-level software enabled security and UI application changes for different STB software devices in the field. “Our engineering team expertly adapted existing STB software to integrate with newly selected TV platform APIs, ensuring a seamless transition for HT’s customers,” said Hans-Juergen Desor, CEO at iWedia. "In addition to the TV platform and back-office migration, the team successfully managed to enrich the functionality of HT’s IPTV STB devices by integrating iWedia’s media player and browser, ensuring smooth video playback for on-demand and catchup services protected by Widevine DRM,” he added.

“The cooperation with iWedia, coupled with their professionalism and engineering expertise enabled a smooth transition to the new TV platform and adding of unicast IP functionalities to our STB devices. As a result we continued building further on providing the best customer experience on the best network, further enhancing MAXtv, our IPTV solution,” said Sinisa Klekovic, Head of TV platform services at Hrvatski Telekom.
