The operator of the South Korean television station Arirang World has ended the distribution of its program in MPEG-2/SD format on the European satellite system Eutelsat Hot Bird at the 13°E position. From the same position, the station can now be watched in better technical quality - in HD resolution.
The mission of Arirang World is to promote a correct understanding of Korea around the world. Through various programs, the channel embodies its motto "Korea for the world, the world for Korea". Arirang TV was founded in 1997 as a domestic cable television station for foreigners in Korea.
In 1999, the company opened the first foreign satellite broadcasting in Korea in the Asia-Pacific region. In 2000, the station completed coverage of the global network, the channel also broadcasts in America, Europe and Africa. The channel offers local foreigners and Koreans a variety of content, for example, about Korean politics, economics, society and culture. Currently, broadcasting is available to approximately 138 million viewers in 103 countries.
