Paramount-owned Channel 5 is embarking on a major revamp of its streaming platform, ditching the My5 name and adopting a unified 5 brand. This follows a similar move by Channel 4, which rebranded its All 4 platform to simply "Channel 4" to align with its linear offering.
The revamped 5 platform will feature FAST channels, a broader range of content, and improved personalization features. It will offer a wider range of premium content from the Paramount family, including reality, drama, factual, films, and true crime shows from MTV Entertainment Studios, CBS, and Comedy Central. Viewers will also have the opportunity to sample content from Paramount+.
"We know from the success that so many of our Channel 5 shows have had on Netflix that there's a huge appetite for our content in the streaming world," said Ben Frow, Chief Content Officer, Paramount UK. "As we relaunch as 5, our streaming service will be a much bigger and broader offer than My5 with a significantly expanded range of content including new series and box sets in reality, drama, factual and kids from across the Paramount family."
The move is driven by the growing popularity of FAST channels, which offer viewers a curated selection of linear content without the need for a subscription. 5's new FAST channels will be specially curated and will provide viewers with a more personalized experience. The platform will also offer enhanced data-led advertising opportunities.
