Ovzon has secured a pivotal contract in the United States, receiving its first order for the Ovzon 3 satellite from the U.S. Department of Defense (US DoD). The order, placed through Viasat Government Services, signifies a transition from Ovzon's current Satcom-as-a-Service offerings to the DoD, which previously utilized leased satellite capacity. This marks a significant step towards leveraging the capabilities of Ovzon 3 for critical defense operations.

Announced on August 14, the order caters specifically to the US DoD's requirements. It replaces a previous eight-month contract signed in December 2023, demonstrating a commitment to using Ovzon 3 for sustained operations. The Ovzon 3 satellite was launched in January 2024 and after successful in-orbit testing, entered commercial service in July. The order, spanning twelve months, was activated earlier this month and is valued at approximately $6.2 million.

"We are proud to support the US DoD and deliver specialized applications for enhanced performance, mobility, and resiliency. Transitioning from leased satellite networks to Ovzon 3 is in progress, and we are confident it will play a critical role for the US DoD and other key customers in the years to come," Per Norén, CEO of Ovzon, stated. This highlights the company's commitment to providing advanced satellite solutions for defense and other critical sectors.
