At Mobile World Congress 2025 (MWC25) in Barcelona, Spain, German technology company Rohde & Schwarz will present its newest 5G Broadcast technology and innovations. A live demonstration at hall 5, stand 5A80 will feature an end-to-end 5G Broadcast solution integrated with Motorola Mobility’s motorola razr 50 ultra, a commercially available mobile device with minor software adjustments for 5G Broadcast support.

This collaboration allows for various new multimedia services with reduced latency and assured Quality of Service, leading to improved Consumer Quality of Experience, according to Rohde & Schwarz. “Consumer behaviour in smartphone media consumption is shifting, and Motorola, in collaboration with Rohde & Schwarz, is exploring the integration of advanced 5G Broadcast technology into pocketable devices like the motorola razr, potentially redefining mobile content engagement with zero-rated content,” stated Mohammed Abdul-Gaffoor, Head of Motorola’s 312 Innovation Labs. “This technology offers benefits beyond mobile entertainment, enhancing emergency communication by delivering vital information across vast areas, even during disasters. Additionally, it has a low carbon footprint and can improve battery efficiency.”

5G Broadcast offers simplified infrastructure, minimizing environmental impact and CO2 emissions. It also lowers the barrier for consumers to access zero-rated content while extending battery life. “We are pleased to team up with Motorola Mobility to demonstrate consumer benefits while using 5G Broadcast,” added Mohamed Aziz Taga, Business Development Manager, Rohde & Schwarz, Broadcast Applications. “The joint collaboration underlines the technology’s capability in enhancing the consumer experience with rich multimedia offerings and guaranteed services.”

The 5G Broadcast Strategic Task Force (5BSTF), comprising TDF (France), Media Broadcast (Germany), Rohde & Schwarz (Germany), Cordiant Capital (UK), Emitel (Poland), CRA (Czech Republic), BTCO (Belgium), and RAI (Italy), is developing a joint commercial roadmap across six European markets encompassing over 270 million people. 5BSTF representatives will be at the Rohde & Schwarz booth (5A80) during MWC 2025 to discuss the latest advancements.
