Viettel, the leading telecommunications provider in Vietnam, has successfully implemented a comprehensive video delivery solution from Ateme. This deployment aims to power what is being hailed as one of the largest streaming platforms in Southeast Asia. The Vietnamese giant is leveraging Ateme's TITAN encoding, NEA-DVR, NEA-Live with low-latency streaming, and NEA-CDN technologies, in conjunction with essential networking and security elements, to bolster its TV and OTT offerings throughout the region.
The platform boasts impressive specifications, engineered to handle over 7 Tbps of peak throughput and nearly 4 million concurrent sessions. Impressively, it has already managed more than 5 Tbps of live traffic in a production environment. This expansive deployment includes over 130 servers and exceeds 5 petabytes of storage, granting Viettel significant capacity for scaling as its video subscriber base grows.
A key factor in Viettel's decision to partner with Ateme was its capability to satisfy the stringent redundancy and reliability requirements mandated for the state-owned operator. Ngo Xuan Truong, Viettel’s broadband and TV chief, stated that “Ateme’s flexible platform enables the company to deliver premium streaming at massive scale while retaining operational control.”
Duc Long Nguyen, Ateme’s regional sales manager for APAC, emphasized that this project underscores the vendor’s ability to meet “top-tier operator” demands around reliability, scalability and user experience. The Viettel operations teams manage the end-to-end service internally, utilizing an intuitive interface that incorporates features like per-household session control to facilitate granular optimization.
The overarching goal of this new platform is to solidify Viettel’s standing in the digital entertainment landscape, providing high-quality streaming experiences to millions of households across Vietnam and adjacent markets.
