Zero Density, a global leader in virtual studio and on-air graphics productions, has announced a revolutionary template-based broadcast graphics workflow. This innovative approach allows broadcasters to manage virtual studios, augmented reality (AR), and extended reality (XR) experiences, alongside on-air graphics, all within a single, unified solution.
Building on a decade of experience integrating Unreal Engine into broadcast virtual studio production, Zero Density is now extending this powerful engine to elevate on-air graphics production. The new workflow supports templates for on-air graphics, video walls, stingers, virtual studios, and AR—all powered by Unreal Engine 5.
The Lino workflow facilitates template-based graphics playout for both 2D/3D and virtual graphics, eliminating the need to switch between different platforms. This translates to faster turnaround times, increased creative freedom, and the ability to easily accommodate last-minute changes on news, weather, or sports programs, even on pre-rendered clips. "With the familiar workflows and interface, motion graphics designers can utilize their existing skill set and start creating content within days with Unreal Engine 5, without prior game engine knowledge," explains Zero Density.
Previously, broadcasters relied on disparate tools for various graphics types (AR graphics, stingers, leaders, outros), leading to increased complexity and resource consumption. Zero Density’s solution optimizes resource use by eliminating the need for separate toolsets for virtual studio production and on-air graphics. Reality5 ensures brand guideline adherence and visual consistency across all platforms.
The unified platform simplifies infrastructure and streamlines workflows, resulting in rapid delivery of high-quality 2D/3D visuals. Reality5’s state awareness and transition logic for AR graphics are key differentiators, allowing broadcasters to extend the same state-aware logic used in on-air graphics to AR, automating transitions seamlessly across all broadcast graphics. This reduces operator workload and enhances efficiency during live productions.
Zero Density will preview this workflow at NAB Show 2025 (Booth SL4223), offering exclusive talk sessions and happy hours. A virtual PostNAB Live webinar on May 22nd will showcase highlights for those unable to attend.
