The French Council of State has rejected interim relief for NRJ12 and C8, who are fighting their exclusion from the DTT system. The Council judged the ’emergency condition’ had not been met. However, it has agreed that their appeals will be examined in depth by the end of November.
The council will then look at the applications in detail. In July, the communications regulator Arcom selected channels for 15 TV frequencies for licences taking effect from February 2025. It ruled out the renewal of NRJ12 and C8, and did not issue a licence to the left wing channel Le Média. Instead, licences will be issued to OFTV (Ouest France group) and RéelsTV (CMI France, owned by Czech billionaire Daniel Kretinsky).
