DPA Microphones has announced Core+, a revolutionary patent-pending technology designed to eliminate distortion in microphones. This innovation tackles the non-linearities inherent in microphone membranes and electronics, setting a new standard for sound capture.

The technology will debut at The 2025 NAMM Show (Booth 18206) and will be showcased in Europe at ISE 2025 (Stand 7P600). “Core+ is a revolutionary leap ahead in microphone design, blurring the lines of what is acoustically possible,” says Helga Volha Somava, Product Management Director, DPA Microphones. “With an advanced approach that ensures a clear and precise audio experience, Core+ provides an unprecedented level of accuracy and detail in sound reproduction and sonic fidelity. Core+ is a game-changer for the world of condenser microphones.”

Core+ neutralizes distortion across the entire dynamic range, making non-linear artifacts imperceptible. This results in pure, clean audio ideal for both recording and live amplification. It also simplifies challenges in live sound environments, such as high-volume performances or multi-microphone setups.

The implementation of Core+ will be a phased rollout across DPA's microphone portfolio, beginning with 5 mm omnidirectional headsets and lavaliers. Models planned for the initial upgrade include the 4060, 4061, 4071, 4661, 4066, 4266, and 4466, followed by miniature cardioid solutions and others.

All DPA microphones with Core+ will maintain the same specifications, and DPA has introduced a new THD performance reference point — THD <0.5% — to highlight the reduced distortion. Current DPA users can seamlessly integrate these enhanced microphones with their existing equipment.
