Sky Österreich is broadening its streaming services to encompass business clientele, introducing Sky Stream to establishments such as hotels, bars, restaurants, and fitness centers throughout Austria. This move follows the pay-TV broadcaster’s earlier rollout of a gastronomy-focused version of Sky Stream to pubs and restaurants in Germany in August 2025, timed for the new Bundesliga season. This business-oriented offer is now being expanded to the Austrian market.
Sky Stream furnishes hotels with a comprehensive platform that integrates Sky channels, HD free-to-air TV, and on-demand content through a singular, internet-delivered interface. The compact device is compatible with any in-room TV and offers both remote and voice control functionalities. International guests can enjoy original-language options, subtitles, and a selection of international news channels.
"After the successful launch for private households in May, we can now finally offer Sky Stream to business customers. More than 90% of new private customers already opt for Sky Stream. I am convinced business customers will be equally enthusiastic," said Monika Coupkova, Vice President Operations at Sky Österreich.
Bars and restaurants can utilize Sky Stream to broadcast Sky’s full sports line-up via a standard internet connection, eliminating the need for satellite or cable. In Austria, Sky possesses extensive and largely exclusive rights, including coverage of the Austrian Bundesliga, UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League, UEFA Conference League, the Premier League, the German Bundesliga, ATP tennis, and the NHL. Additionally, Sky provides marketing resources, social media templates, and a digital customer portal to hospitality venues aiming to draw in sports enthusiasts and enhance their visit duration and revenue.
"Since the market introduction of Sky Stream in the business sector in Germany earlier this year, we have seen that the offer meets a real need in the hotel industry," said Lars Winking, Vice President Sky Business. "With the launch in Austria, we are taking the next important step for sustainable business."
