GB News and Arqiva have announced an expanded distribution agreement covering satellite, terrestrial, and radio broadcasts. This multi-year renewal solidifies their partnership, ensuring continued access for viewers and listeners across various platforms.
The agreement encompasses digital terrestrial television (Freeview), satellite television (Sky and Freesat), DAB+ radio, and broadcast connectivity lines. Marc Schipper, Chief Operating Officer, GB News, stated: “We’re delighted to expand on our relationship with Arqiva, who boast an unrivalled record in service delivery. This is a landmark renewal for GB News, and the collaboration will ensure our audience has the best possible access to our award-winning content for many years to come.” He further emphasized the channel's commitment to "mass reach television and radio" as a key element of its distribution strategy.
GB News, known for its right-leaning news and opinion programming, boasts a reach of over 90% of the population through television, and a similar percentage through its audio counterpart, GB News Radio, which is broadcast via Arqiva’s Digital One national multiplex. Gaurav Jandwani, Executive Director, Media & Broadcast at Arqiva, commented: “We are proud of our long-standing distribution partnership with GB News and are delighted to be extending our relationship. GB News understands the role of mass reach, free-to-air content of both TV and radio in reaching their audiences. Linear distribution forms an important part of their distribution strategy, for example alongside social media and streaming, and we are looking forward to supporting them in all aspects of their long-term hybrid future.” Freesat initially partnered with Arqiva in February 2021.
