On Monday, February 25, 2025, MSNBC anchor Joy Reid aired the final episode of her show, "The ReidOut." Reid, who hosted the program since 2020, marked the occasion by wearing a lavender and black hoodie featuring the show's logo, a "Tonight at 7 p.m." inscription, and the MSNBC logo.
The program's conclusion included a touching on-air tribute to Reid's behind-the-scenes team. Headshots of the team, dubbed "The ReidOut Family," were displayed on the "Kornacki Curve" in Studio 3A in New York. (Reid herself was broadcasting from Washington, D.C.). The show then transitioned to a split-screen view of the control rooms in both D.C. and NYC, allowing for further individual acknowledgements.
MSNBC has replaced "The ReidOut" with "MSNBC Prime" in the 7 p.m. Eastern time slot. This branding was previously used as a temporary placeholder in 2022, first when Rachel Maddow's show reduced to once-a-week broadcasts and later before the launch and subsequent cancellation of "Alex Wagner Tonight."
During its use as a placeholder, "MSNBC Prime" adopted a visual style similar to Rachel Maddow's show, incorporating red, light gray, and blue blocks with a "torn paper edge" effect. It remains unclear what visual style or format the revived "MSNBC Prime" will adopt.
