Matrox Video has significantly expanded its presence in the IP video gateway market with the introduction of Matrox Vion, a high-density IP video gateway, alongside a substantial update for its Matrox ConvertIP DSH SMPTE ST 2110 and IPMX transmitter/receiver.

These advancements directly address the increasing complexity of IP video workflows commonly found within ProAV and broadcast settings. Vion is a compact gateway, designed with an IT-centric approach, and is optimized for both on-premises and cloud-based IP video workflows. Its capabilities include real-time encoding, decoding, transcoding, and conversion across a wide range of compressed and baseband formats. This broad support encompasses H.264/HEVC, JPEG-XS, ST 2110, IPMX, and NDI, successfully tackling interoperability challenges between various applications in broadcast and ProAV environments. Vion is available in two versions: EX and NX, with the EX model providing extra SDI and HDMI inputs.

The upcoming update for ConvertIP DSH introduces a key new feature: IP-to-IP bridging. This functionality allows for seamless conversion between uncompressed and compressed formats such as ST 2110-20, ST 2110-22, and IPMX. This upgrade transforms ConvertIP DSH into an even more adaptable solution for IP video conversion, enhancing workflow flexibility considerably.

Vion and the new ConvertIP update represent strategic advancements in AV and broadcast technology,” said Spiro Plagakis, Vice President of Product Management at Matrox Video. “By supporting open standards, offering comprehensive protocol conversion, and delivering high-performance encoding and bridging options, these devices empower users to seamlessly adapt their IP workflows, whether on-premises or in cloud environments.”

With the launch of Vion and the ConvertIP DSH update, Matrox Video strengthens its IP technology portfolio, enabling users to achieve new levels of efficiency, interoperability, and flexibility within their IP workflows.
