MSNBC has unveiled a significantly revamped programming schedule, marked by several cancellations and prominent anchor shifts. Joy Reid and Alex Wagner’s shows, “The ReidOut” and “Alex Wagner Tonight,” are ending. Reid is departing the network, while Wagner transitions to a senior political analyst role. The slot previously occupied by “The ReidOut” will feature rotating anchors until April 2025.
Other cancellations include “José Díaz-Balart Reports” and “The Katie Phang Show.” Díaz-Balart will continue with weekend editions of “NBC Nightly News,” and Phang will become a legal analyst. Jen Psaki will take over the Tuesday through Friday primetime slot once “The Rachel Maddow Show” returns to a weekly format after the first 100 days of Donald Trump’s second term.
The “The Weekend” team, including Symone Sanders-Townsend, Michael Steele, and Alicia Menendez, will move to a weekday 7 p.m. ensemble news program (title unannounced). Jonathan Capehart will be a co-host of a revamped “The Weekend,” while Ayman Mohyeldin will anchor a new evening edition. This expansion may lead to the conclusion of “Ayman.” Ali Velshi’s “Velshi” expands to 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., followed by “Alex Witt Reports.”
Daytime changes include an expanded “Ana Cabrera Reports” (10 a.m. to noon), followed by “Chris Jansing Reports” (noon to 2 p.m.), then an extended “Katy Tur Reports.” The slot previously held by Andrea Mitchell’s “Andrea Mitchell Reports” (which ended February 7, 2025) will be absorbed into “MSNBC Reports.” Mitchell remains with NBC News.
These changes were announced by MSNBC President Rebecca Kutler on February 24, 2025.
