With less than a year until the 2026 Milan Cortina Winter Olympics, NBCUniversal is building momentum for its coverage. The company is expanding its programming on NBC and its streaming platform, Peacock. This strategy mirrors the successful approach used for the 2024 Paris Olympics, ensuring widespread coverage for U.S. audiences.
The 2026 Winter Olympics, from February 6th to 22nd, will be held across northern Italy. NBC plans to air more programming hours than any previous Winter Olympics, including live daytime coverage of key events like figure skating and snowboarding. A new primetime show, “Primetime in Milan,” will recap daily highlights.
Peacock will stream every event live, offering replays, highlights, and features like Gold Zone and Multiview. USA Network and CNBC will also provide extensive cable coverage. The favorable time zone allows for live broadcasts throughout the day, including weekend morning and weekday afternoon events.
Rick Cordella, president of NBC Sports, stated, “The time zone allows us to mimic our Paris programming and coverage strategy on NBC and Peacock, which was widely praised and highly consumed. Team USA is poised to have one of its strongest Winter Olympic teams in years and America has always been fascinated with Italy, its culture, food, and scenery.”
Cortina d’Ampezzo previously hosted the Winter Olympics in 1956. This will be Italy’s fourth Olympic Games. The Games will feature top athletes aiming for gold, the return of NHL players to Olympic hockey, the USA-Canada rivalry in women’s hockey, and the introduction of ski mountaineering.
NBCUniversal holds U.S. media rights through 2032. As the one-year mark approaches, NBC is promoting the Games with previews and coverage of Team USA qualification events.
