Ahead of the start of the 2018 Olympics, Eurosport is launching an app that will allow you to see the most important events of the Olympics in virtual reality. Winter Olympics Eurosport VR for iOS and Android will show in VR more than 50 hours of live broadcasts - the opening and closing ceremonies of the Games, as well as the most important stages of competitions in alpine skiing, short track, curling, figure skating, hockey, ski jumping, skeleton and snowboarding. The application is compatible with Samsung Gear VR, Google Daydream and Windows Mixed Reality virtual reality glasses and is available from February 1st in the App Store and Play Market for € 0.99. Sports fans will be able to choose the most convenient viewing angle for themselves thanks to Intel True VR technology. It uses 6 cameras and provides a 360-degree view. This will allow you to feel the effect of complete immersion - viewers will see and hear everything that happens directly during the competition. This approach also meets the overall Eurosport broadcasting strategy, developed specifically for the 2018 Olympics. It was called "Get Closer" and gives viewers the opportunity to create their own Olympic viewing program using the Eurosport Player service and independently choose which competitions, at what time and on what screen to watch. In addition, for the first time in the history of the Olympic Games, Eurosport will use augmented reality (AR) and improved data transfer speeds to cover the competition. They will be used in the innovative Eurosport Cube studio in Pyeongchang to create an interactive and immersive panorama of events. This studio will become a unique platform for high-quality analysis of the best moments of the Games, and the Eurosport team of experts in winter sports, which will work in Eurosport Cube, will help to understand the secrets and subtleties of winter disciplines. In addition, Eurosport has launched a special section on the site dedicated to the 2018 Olympics. Eurosport online platforms will be the only resource in Europe where viewers can follow every minute of the competition. Eurosport will pay special attention to competitions in disciplines popular in Ukraine - hockey, biathlon, cross-country skiing, snowboarding, speed skating and figure skating. On the air of the channels, viewers will have access to more than 100 competitions, the total duration of which will be about 1000 hours, which will allow all sports fans to follow the brightest event in the world of sports and the main stages of competitions in Pyeongchang. The rights to broadcast the 2018 Winter Olympics in Ukraine were transferred by Discovery Communications to the national channel "UA: First".
