Samsung is expanding its One UI interface to the big screen, bringing the same intuitive design and features from mobile devices to its Smart TVs. The company announced that all 2024 models will launch with One UI, while select 2023 models will receive an update later.

One UI, which sits atop the Android operating system, has previously been a mainstay on Samsung’s mobile and tablet devices. The software’s presence on Smart TVs signals a strategic move towards unifying the user experience across different platforms. The first model to receive the One UI update, based on Tizen 8.0, will be the S90C OLED TV, with other models to follow.

Samsung promises that any One TV model will continue to receive support for another seven years, mirroring the same commitment the company provides to its range of Galaxy smartphones.

Notable features include a streamlined, more “modern” look. There are Home Screen tabs, a Watch Later function, and for gamers, a dedicated gaming bar that simplifies switching between games.

The company also emphasizes community features, allowing users to connect other devices linked to the same account to the TV, such as a keyboard or mouse, and even view workout metrics from the Smart TV on a Galaxy Watch.
