Tascam has introduced two new portable handheld recorders, the DR-05XP and DR-07XP. Designed for professional-quality audio capture, these devices are suitable for a wide range of applications, including music recording, audio-for-video, meetings, and dictation.
A key feature is the 32-bit float recording capability at up to 32-bit/96kHz, ensuring low-noise and distortion-free recordings. This 32-bit float recording eliminates the worry of clipping audio, regardless of recording levels. Both recorders utilize microSDXC cards with support for up to 512GB, offering ample storage.
The DR-05XP features omnidirectional condenser microphones, capturing audio from all directions up to 125dB SPL. The DR-07XP, however, offers unidirectional stereo condenser microphones adjustable between A/B and X/Y configurations for precise stereo imaging, also with a 125dB SPL maximum.
Both models function as 2-in/2-out USB-C audio interfaces, compatible with PCs, Macs, and iOS devices. They also serve as USB microphones when connected to a computer. A stereo minijack allows for the connection of external microphones or line-level audio sources.
Additional features include a built-in chromatic tuner, reverb effect, three low-cut filter options for noise reduction, and auto-tone output for video synchronization. The DR-07XP also includes a tripod mount.
Sean Daily, Tascam Product Specialist, stated: “The new DR-05XP and DR-07XP recorders build upon the strengths offered by their first-generation siblings while taking both sound quality and features to an entirely new level. With 32-bit float recording capability, these recorders capture sound with greater precision than ever before. Combine this with their ability to provide 17.5 hours of battery life using standard alkaline batteries and you have an incredibly versatile, easy-to-use recorder that is ideal for a wide range of applications. I’m confident recording enthusiasts will find much to like with these new units.”
