Following devastating floods in Central Texas and the Hill Country on July 4th, Graham Media Group and Gray Television have partnered on a significant fundraising campaign. The initiative, named "Together for Texas," aims to provide crucial aid to those affected.
The campaign channels donations through The Salvation Army, ensuring funds are used for vital services such as shelter, essential supplies, and financial assistance. Within the first 24 hours, the effort generated more than $120,000, with Gray contributing $25,000 and Graham adding another $15,000. Participating stations include KSAT in San Antonio and KPRC in Houston, alongside other Gray-owned stations spanning 113 U.S. markets.
The companies have pledged that 100 percent of donations will directly support on-the-ground relief in the affected areas. "Graham Media Group is proud to partner with Gray in supporting The Salvation Army’s critical emergency disaster response in Texas,” said Catherine Badalamente, chief executive officer of Graham Media Group. “As broadcasters, we have a responsibility to not only inform our communities about breaking news but to help them in times of crisis.”
"Gray is committed to serving the affected communities for as long as it takes and we are honored to partner with Graham Media Group and The Salvation Army on this important effort,” said Pat LaPlatney, Gray co-CEO and president. “We are grateful to viewers for what has already been a generous response to this call for assistance.”
The Salvation Army's Emergency Disaster Services teams are currently on the ground, providing meals, hydration, and emotional support to those in need. They urge continued support through donations, which can be made at www.togetherfortx.com. The campaign will continue raising funds for both immediate relief and long-term recovery efforts.
