The XXXII FISU World University Winter Games in Turin, Italy (January 13-23, 2025) will feature extensive broadcast production by EMG/Gravity Media Italy. This significant event, encompassing nine winter disciplines across multiple Piedmontese municipalities, will see over 2,000 student-athletes from 57 nations competing.
EMG/Gravity Media Italy’s role extends beyond simple coverage. They're the selected service provider, supplying broadcast media, directors, assistants, specialized personnel, and logistics for comprehensive event coverage. Their services encompass live graphics, timekeeping (in partnership with Microplus), and even the official opening title sequence production. The international “feed” for rights holders will originate from their Broadcast Center in Cologno Monzese (Milan).
The scale of their operation is impressive. 150 professionals will be deployed across various venues, coordinated by six unit managers and a project manager. The production schedule includes over 125 hours of live coverage. Innovative techniques will be employed, including drone usage for events such as Biathlon races and the Closing Ceremony. Furthermore, EMG/Gravity Media provides strategic advisory services, drawing on extensive experience in winter sports.
Claudio Cavallotti, managing director of EMG/Gravity Media Italy, highlights the extensive planning and technological investment involved: “Working closely with FISU, we have been engaged for several months in organizing the TV production of the Winter Games. After the positive experience gained during the summer edition of Naples 2019, an even more impressive technological effort is planned for Torino 2025. In addition to this, as with all sporting events, we want to guarantee a high level of production and high-quality final product, with the support of a team of highly experienced professionals. We the aim to confirm EMG / Gravity Media Italy as a reliable partner for FISU, with the help of the most advanced technologies currently in the market.”
