Millions of households in Africa, Europe and the Asia-Pacific region will be able to access a free TV channel via SES satellites, designed to broadcast reliable, informative content about COVID-19. The "Fight COVID-19" channel broadcasts content aimed at providing low-income and rural communities with vital information on how to limit the spread of the virus. The content is provided by verified organizations such as UNICEF and Agence France-Presse (AFP), as well as the global social education technology platform Potential.com. The goal of this content is to impartially inform viewers about identifying COVID-19 symptoms, the recovery process, and how to cope with the consequences of the global pandemic and observe social distancing, namely: how to run a household, provide childcare, and maintain mental health. SES welcomes the involvement of additional content providers from a number of international and regional organizations on the channel dedicated to COVID-19 issues. The channel is broadcast free of charge from the SES satellite constellation and is available in the following regions: • ASTRA 4A at 5 degrees east longitude for sub-Saharan Africa and Ukraine • ASTRA 2F at 28.2 degrees east longitude for West Africa • NSS-12 at 57 degrees east longitude for Ethiopia and neighboring countries • SES-9 at 108.2 degrees east longitude for the Philippines "Over the past few months, the COVID-19 virus has disrupted the familiar patterns of our lives, and unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be going away anytime soon. Thanks to our global satellite coverage, we are meaningfully prepared to provide our resources to help deliver vital information to vulnerable populations," said Steve Collar, CEO of SES. "We are very fortunate to be able to partner with UNICEF, AFP and Potential.com, who are ready to provide their content for this noble purpose. Together, we hope to reach a wide audience with reliable, trustworthy content and contribute to curbing the spread of COVID-19."
