"1+1 media" successfully completed the transition of most of the group's TV channels from the usual 4:3 broadcasting format to the widescreen 16:9. Now the TV channels "1+1", "TET", "PLUSPLUS" and "1+1 International" are broadcasting in the new format. This was announced in a press release of the company.
The process of transition of the group's channels began more than a year ago. The first in December 2016 to broadcast in the new format 16:9 was the TV channel "TET". In January, the transition of three more TV channels of the group "1+1", "PLUSPLUS" and "1+1 International" was completed. Now preparations are underway for the transition to the new broadcasting format of the channels "2+2", "Unian TV" and "Bigudi".
"Changing the broadcasting format of TV channels for viewers seems like a simple process, but behind it are huge preparatory works. For us, as carriers of one of the largest technological bases, the work on changing the broadcasting format included: updating infrastructure, TJK equipment, converting 4 studios to 16:9/HD operation, converting the TSN service to HD, accumulating advertising in two standards 4:3 and 16:9, adapting graphic manifestations, and also modernization of regional equipment. It is important to note that the work covered not only stationary equipment, but also a mobile fleet of satellite vehicles and OB vans. I note that these actions provide the "1+1 media" group with the technological readiness to broadcast in HD, the question remains only in the scale of demand for such a format and the availability of content", - said the technical director of the 1+1 media group Philip Petrenko.
It should be noted that in Europe, 16:9 and HD formats are the standard broadcasting formats for most digital channels.
