The German audiovisual market is poised for growth in 2024, with total revenues from audio and audiovisual media expected to reach €16.0 billion, a 4.3% increase from 2023. This growth is primarily driven by the streaming sector, with significant increases in subscription and advertising revenue.

According to the 2023 statistics and 2024 forecast for the audio and audiovisual media market in Germany presented by VAUNET, the commercial broadcasters’ industry association, audio and audiovisual advertising revenues in Germany are projected to rise by 4.6% in 2024, reaching €6.2 billion. This growth is expected to be driven by both the audio and video streaming segments.

The forecast predicts a 3.1% increase in net sales for audio advertising in 2024, reaching around €831 million. This growth is attributed to both radio advertising and streaming audio advertising. Radio advertising revenue is expected to increase by 2%, reaching €713 million, while streaming audio advertising is projected to see double-digit growth of 10%, reaching €118 million.

In the TV/video segment, net advertising revenue is expected to increase by 4.8%, reaching €5.3 billion in 2024. While television advertising is expected to remain stable at the previous year’s level of €3.6 billion, streaming video advertising is once again expected to experience significant growth, with a projected increase of 17% to €1.7 billion.

The paid content market is also expected to see growth, with revenue expected to increase by 5.0% to €7.5 billion in 2024. While the pay-TV segment is expected to remain stable at the previous year’s level of €2.2 billion, the paid video-on-demand segment is projected to continue its double-digit growth, reaching €3.4 billion. Revenues from paid audio are also expected to increase by 5% to €1.9 billion.

Finally, teleshopping is forecast to see slight revenue growth of 1%, reaching €2.3 billion.
