The second Sentinel-2B satellite begins operation as part of the Copernicus Earth observation program. It was launched from the Kourou spaceport in French Guiana.
Recall that the first Sentinel-2A satellite under this program was launched into orbit in the summer of 2015.
The Copernicus project is implemented under the leadership of the European Commission in partnership with the European Space Agency.
Data obtained thanks to satellites will be available free of charge.
The satellites are designed to monitor land use, vegetation, forest and water resources, and can also be used in disaster relief.
